As an important industrial protective material, the core value of a heat proof rubber mat lies in its outstanding high-temperature resistance achieved through special formula design and production processes. From the selection of raw materials to the final product, the entire process embodies breakthroughs in materials science and the wisdom of precision manufacturing.
In terms of basic composition, silicone rubber is one of the mainstream base materials.
Experimental data shows that when the proportion of silicone rubber in the formula reaches 85-95 parts, and 10-15 parts of graphite powder and 6-10 parts of mica powder are added as modified components, the thermal stability of the material can be significantly improved. This composite structure takes advantage of the excellent heat insulation properties of layered mineral fillers-the physical barrier formed by mica sheets can effectively block heat conduction, while flake graphite disperses local heat accumulation quickly through its high thermal conductivity. The combined effect keeps the rubber matrix intact when exposed to heat.Notably, some high-end products also use fluororubber as a reinforcing phase. The C-F bonds in the molecular chains of these fluoropolymers have extremely high bond energy, giving the material a breakthrough temperature resistance limit. Some special formulas can even withstand continuous high temperatures above 250°C.
The production process also plays a crucial role in performance.
Modern factories generally adopt a stepwise mixing process:first, natural rubber,styrene-butadiene rubber,or ethylene propylene diene monomer(EPDM)and other main materials are initially mixed with carbon black and inorganic fillers, and then anti-aging agents, accelerators, and other additives are gradually added for secondary refining.Temperature control during this stage is particularly precise, ensuring that all components are fully integrated while avoiding premature cross-linking reactions.

The molding stage typically uses custom molds for compression vulcanization, with process parameters set for dynamic balance-maintaining the temperature between 140°C and 170°C,combined with a pressure field of 10-20 MPa.This not only promotes the orderly arrangement of rubber molecular chains but also prevents excessive flow that could cause dimensional deviations.Especially the precise timing of the vulcanization stage directly affects the product’s compression set and elastic recovery rate.
The innovative application of auxiliary materials is constantly expanding the product boundaries.
For example,in heat-resistant and corrosion-resistant formulas, engineers creatively introduce magnesium oxide and calcium hydroxide as acid-base buffer systems, combined with bisphenol AF-type antioxidants to build a multi-layered protection mechanism. These additives not only improve the rubber’s stability in highly corrosive environments but also avoid stress concentration problems caused by traditional fillers through micro-nano dispersion technology. For applications requiring special functions, the formula ratios are adjusted accordingly:insulating gaskets for the power industry that pursue ultimate insulation performance will enhance the proportion of natural rubber, while equipment seals that prioritize mechanical strength will increase the content of nitrile rubber to take advantage of its excellent wear resistance.
Quality control runs through the entire production process.
Each batch of raw materials must undergo strict physical and chemical tests to ensure that the particle size distribution of graphite meets the design requirements and the purity of mica powder is up to standard. The mixed rubber compound needs to be sampled and tested for Mooney viscosity, which is an important indicator of processing performance.Semi-finished products after molding must undergo aging tests under simulated working conditions, including periodic high-temperature exposure and cold-hot shock cycles. The final products must pass multiple physical property tests such as tensile strength, tear strength, and Shore hardness,as well as specialized tests such as insulation resistance and voltage resistance, before they can be approved for release.
With the iterative upgrading of industrial technology, new nanomodification technologies have begun to be applied in the field of heat proof rubber mats.
Researchers have found that uniformly dispersing a small amount of carbon nanotubes in the rubber compound can enhance thermal conductivity without reducing flexibility;while surface-modified silica particles can form a three-dimensional network structure, effectively inhibiting molecular chain segment movement at high temperatures. These microscopic innovations are reshaping the performance boundaries of traditional products, providing more reliable solutions for cutting-edge fields such as aerospace and new energy.
